Redefining "newsworthy"

As a matter of fact I have almost completely stopped watching the news. I still keep up with world events but I do it in different ways. Today I was flipping through channels and I was reminded of why I don’t watch it anymore. Paris Hilton, of all people, is the big topic of discussion. Apparently she is going to jail beause she made some kind of idotic decision that will Amoxicillin alcohol probably get Zoloft hair loss her jail time. Tell me Silagra 50mg - 90 pills why I care. Oh yeah, I don’t. That is Lasix 40 mg why I don’t watch the news anymore. All it has become is a hodgepodge of nothing stories that mean even less in the big scheme of things. Occasionally we will get a blurb about what is happening in the world but it is such a short little bit of information that the public watching does not understand the context and therefore doesn’t care enought about it despite the fact that Iran is developing nuclear weapons. It is as if these news stations live in a little play world full of little dolls (like Anna Nicole Smith or Paris Hilton) that everyone has to know every detail about but they won’t take the time to explain major world events that are shaping the real world in which we all live. We are much happier being fed these nothing stories than being informed about what is happening and acting on it. Who knows what is going on in Congress? We know about the idotic squabbling that goes on between this Republican and that Democrat but we have no idea what the bills they are proposing and passing say or mean. It could be that no one cares about politics because they are so sick of the politicing that goes on. Maybe the politicians engineered this so that the things they do in Congress would be less scrutinized. That is a whole other topic.

All this to say, what the heck makes Paris Hilton going to jail newsworthy?!? Maybe all newsworthy means now is “what the American public wants to see”. That is the definition after all. So what am I talking about? I don’t know. I think you get the gist.
