Life as a Whirlwind
May 19
The last few weeks of my life have been very busy. Very busy! But no matter how busy I get the Lord is faithful. My busyness does not affect Him. One activity I have been busy with is work. I have been in the middle of being trained on a new job, doing that job, training someone else to do my old job, and helping them do that job as well. Have you ever had days when you came home and just wanted to collapse on the couch, not out of physical tiredness but out of mental tiredness? I am sure you have experienced this too so I don’t have to tell you much more of what it is like. I have had quite a few days like this these past couple weeks. On top of all of that, our accounting system decided to blow up last week so we had to do some of our major end-of-month stuff manually. Even though this was not the most enjoyable situation I have dealt with it was definitely rewarding to finish this way.
Another item that has been consuming my time has been worship at church. Our worship pastor went on a mission trip to the Pacific Rim and asked me to take over for him in leading worship for a couple weeks. The first thing I will tell you about this is that this would not be my first choice in my “things I just love to do” list. This is a great testament to what God can do with someone who follows Him. If you have not stepped out on a limb, trusting that God will take care of things recently, I would highly recommend it. I came to the end of myself several times and it is an amazing thing to see what God will do when you come to that point. Since God wants us to rely on Him it would make sense that He would call us to things that we are not completely comfortable with or cannot do on our own. He is so faithful.
The second thing I will tell you about this experience is that it was an amazing blessing in my life. I had the opportunity to spend time that I usually don’t get to spend with my pastor. This was a huge blessing and encouragement to me. Having to bring together a group of musicians and get them all to do what I had planned was very difficult. I don’t have a problem with leading people but it is another matter entirely to try and come up with a creative expression of music and express that to other people. This is where I came to the end of me and saw God come through. Amazing!
Between these two items comes all of life’s other tasks and pleasures. I know that God has grown me in many ways these past few weeks and I hope to impart those here in the coming future. I plan to be posting more here but that, of course, will depend on what else life throws at me. Until then, “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act.”
