The View From Here

As of today, I am officially debt free. I owe nothing to anyone. My car is paid off, my guitar is paid off, school is paid for, no credit card debt…….it is a good feeling. Now we will just have to see how long I can keep this up in a society that thrives on debt.

Did you know that….

….People in parts of Western China put salt in their tea instead of sugar.

This is gross. I am a sugar lover. I will eat or drink pretty much anything with sugar in it with the exception of tea. This is even worse. “Yes, I would like some salty tea please.” Yuck!

Well, I haven’t posted in a while and there is a reason for part of it but I will get to that in a minute. First of all, the gig at the Bean Counter went really well. It was alot of fun and if you missed it, you missed a good time and you will just have to come next time. (Oh yes…there will be a next time) I just wanted to say thanks to Amanda and Caroline for playing with me and to all of you who supported me. I really appreciate ya’ll!

School has been going well. No big bumps. I do have some projects coming due but I am already started on them so all is well in that department. Here is some big school news: I made my last schedule for HSU that I will ever have to do!! All I have left is 12 hours so my last semester shouldn’t be too hard. It was quite exciting when I went by the business office to pick up my schedule and my last statement. The end is near!!! Finally!! I also had an interview with Wells Fargo Financial at the beginning of this month. That went well and I will probably get another next semester to see if a job there is a possibility. If it isn’t, that is ok. I am happy working at Clearwire for now.

Next on the list of updatable things: Star Wars Episode III came out on DVD! It will be exciting to watch the whole saga in order at home as I have time.

The last bit of news for everyone is what I would consider the most important. God has really been working in me greatly this last week and there is a reason why. I actually have been focusing on my relationship with Him. This is why I haven’t updated till now. I have been on an entertainment fast. I haven’t been watching any TV, playing any , reading any books that don’t deal with spiritual things, or watching movies for the past week. It is truly amazing the things that come to light when you don’t try to fill all of your time with the things that this world offers. I sat down today and tried to watch the news some and within five minutes I was turning it off. I don’t want to hear about sex tape trials. So instead of spending my time in front of the TV this last week I spent it in front of the throne of God. I read my Bible in my spare time and actually started a word study. I found myself wanting to get into the scriptures to see what they had to say to me. By the end of the week I felt oddly clean. I don’t know how else to describe it. I felt that some of the taint of the world had been cleansed from me. I thank my God in heaven for this time He has given me to seek Him. And I want to continue in this. I think that sometimes we all need to retract from all the things that distract us and focus on our Creator for a time. I highly recommend this to any of you reading this. I think it is something that I will do periodically in order to keep my self from getting too comfortable in this world.

Well, that is about it for now. I will try to keep this thing updated on a more regular basis now. Until next time, this is the day the Lord has made, so rejoicing is in order!!
